On May 22, formed EARIE president (1991-1993) Henk Wouter de Jong passed away, at the respectable age of 98. Professor de Jong taught industrial organization, competition and market dynamics at the University of Amsterdam during the 1970s and 80s. He was one of the proponents of the EU model competition law that The Netherlands – which De Jong famously referred to as ‘cartel paradise’ – finally adopted in 1998.
